 “Therapies for ADHD mental health”

Felicity Rideout is a skilled practitioner of complementary therapies, with a focus on equine therapy. As owner of Therapeutic Equine Experience and founder of the Equine Assisted Wellbeing Institute, her expertise lies in using the therapeutic power of horses to enhance mental health, particularly for individuals with ADHD. Drawing on her formal education in psychology and her personal experience with ADHD, as well as her child’s recent diagnosis, Felicity has developed neuro-affirming practices that promote the wellbeing of those living with ADHD. She is committed to increasing awareness of the wide range of therapy options available, which can have a positive impact on the lives of individuals with ADHD and their families. Having witnessed first-hand the transformative effects of complementary therapies on mental health, Felicity is passionate about sharing this knowledge and helping others lead fulfilling lives.

Felicity will discuss the mental health challenges often faced by individuals with ADHD. While medication is often considered the first line of management, it may not be the most effective or desirable option for everyone. Complementary therapies, such as mindfulness practices, equine assisted wellbeing, yoga, and art therapy have been shown to be effective in improving overall mental health in individuals with ADHD.

Felicity will take a deep dive into these and other complementary therapies, examining how they contribute to our lives and how they can be integrated with traditional ADHD treatments. She will emphasize the importance of taking an individualised approach to treatment, as what works for one person may not work for another. Through her presentation, Felicity hopes to raise awareness about the diverse range of therapy options available for individuals with ADHD and inspire a more diverse approach to mental health.
