Talk title: Tending to the Inner Critic: Using Arts Therapy to Rewrite ADHD Shame Stories

Mel Wangmann is a creative spark in the therapy world, offering a fresh approach to honouring the unique rhythm of every client through Expressive Arts Therapy.

She is the Founder and Director of Ipsarty, a one-of-a-kind arts therapy practice and neurodivergent sanctuary on the Sunshine Coast. Having spent over a decade nursing in the community, she encountered the tremendous healing power that creative arts can offer those seeking to be heard and seen. As a result, she was lured back to university to train in psychotherapy.

Being neurodivergent,; she has developed her therapeutic approach using her lived experience to deliver holistic and nurturing mental health support to kids and families.

Mel is mama to baby Edie and bird mama to Butters the Eclectus Parrot/therapy parrot, who truly believes she’s human.

Her potent voice as an advocate for neurodivergent folk can often be heard lecturing for universities and conferences, and on social media.
