BE BRIEF

Remember, Senators are looking for Cost savings. We need to demonstrate that they can “Save Money & Save Lives by empowering People with ADHD to understand and manage their ADHD”

Some of the solutions we would recommend are

  • Community awareness of what ADHD really is, including positives
  • Screening for all at-risk populations
    • Struggling school and Tertiary students
    • people seeking help for depression, anxiety, eating disorders, alcohol or substance use, gambling, financial difficulties, suicidal thoughts, accidents
    • prisoners
    • other points of contact – when did you seek help and if ADHD had been suspected, you might have been helped sooner?
  • Training of all Healthcare, Education and Justice system professionals and students
  • ADHD managed in Primary Care with Trained Supported GP’s (some credentialed to start ADHD meds),
  • ADHD Management Plan on Medicare with funded sessions with GP’s, Peer Support Workers, Mental Health Nurses, ADHD Coaches and Psychologists, as well as Psychiatrists
  • Funding for Parents of kids with ADHD to learn how to help their kids
  • Research involving Consumers which will directly benefit Consumers
  • Research demonstrating economic and social cost savings of identifying and assisting people with ADHD early.
  • Your other ideas?
